Faire Report #3: A new type of Behind the Scenes

What’s on my brain this week?
Fly on the wall content
I’ve started sharing some of the notes and thoughts from my calls with my clients. These are real life brands that are scaling on Faire right now, and you get the opportunity to be a fly on the wall in my meetings with them. If you missed the email about it you can read about this particular call in more detail here → Read more
Minimum order quantities of $99 sting!
Seriously, so many brands I come across are sitting with this MOQ of $99 and it’s the biggest waste of time. When you think about it, it’s doing nothing. It’s not really large enough to be a meaningful wholesale threshold, and you’re hamstringing yourself in the algorithm by not having it set to 0.
So here is what I say to every single brand who comes to us with an MOQ like this — move it to 0. The number one button that retailers see and click at the top of your page, that you can actually influence quickly, is that 0 MOQ.
Suddenly you’re appearing in one of the most commonly used filters: 0 MOQ. The next biggest filters used are shipping location, made-from location, and brand location. None of those can be changed quickly, but 0 MOQ can be.
Imagery imagery imagery
So many brands I see are sitting on great imagery and not using it on Faire. If you’ve got strong Amazon content or high-quality Shopify visuals, use them in your Faire listings and posts.
With Shopify, you’re optimizing for page speed, so you can’t overload pages with imagery. On Faire, it’s different. You’re optimizing for a retailer making a buying decision for their store, so give them everything they need.
How does a retailer make a good investment decision? They need information. So be the brand that gives it to them. Use icons, highlight USPs, include in-situ photography, and show how the product sells in real life. Invest in your listings, and retailers will invest in you.
Chapter 9 of our new book gives heaps of advice on product imagery for your listings, download it for free here.
Final thought
That’s what’s on the brain this week, hope you find it insightful. Let me know if you have questions.
