Faire Report #17: Faire USA, the motherload!

What’s on my brain this week?

This week I want to answer one of the questions we get asked most:

Should I start a Faire USA account?

The short answer? Absolutely.

In fact, if we were starting Bare Kind again today, we'd build the business around the US from day one.

If I could start again

Our business would look completely different today if we'd started in America instead of the UK eight years ago.

Potentially life changing.

We've learnt an enormous amount since then, and if we had the opportunity to build Bare Kind again from scratch, we'd launch into the US first.

Go all in on the USA

If you're serious about wholesale growth, don't overcomplicate your expansion plans.

Set up a Faire USA account. Ship from the US. Have a US company address. Build the infrastructure to serve American retailers properly.

Every single one of our clients that has made this move has seen the benefits. They become significantly more competitive and, in almost every case, much more successful.

The biggest opportunity in wholesale

The US consumer is different.

The market is enormous. America has around six times the population of the UK, significantly higher consumer spending, and a retail market unlike anywhere else in the world.

Could you sell elsewhere? Absolutely.

But if your ambition is to build a genuinely large product business, we'd spend our energy on the US before worrying about almost anywhere else. Everything else starts to feel like rounding errors.

Final thought

If you're asking yourself where to invest your next year of effort, our answer is simple: build for America.

See you on the marketplace,

Andy
